Many people come to the Western Lakes to climb England's highest mountain, Scafell Pike.

The quickest and most straight-forward route up is from Wasdale Head; but it's still a strenuous climb and you should allow 5 - 6 hours for the return journey. As always be prepared, carry a map and compass and know how to use them!
